I attended the American School from 1955'-'57 as a Freshman.  My father was Commanding Officer, Naval Air Station, Sangley Point. There are many fond memories of those days while living in the P.I.

Mostly, I remember the Headmaster, Assistant Headmaster and several of the more colorful teachers. But  I also remember the old campus not being air conditioned and no lunch room!

We Navy Juniors had to arise before dawn, get to the boat ramp on Sangley Point, and take the boat  across Manila Bay to the U.S. Embassy. Then, the Navy school bus took us to Pasay City. The reverse of this trip took us home. When the seas were rough we would take the bus from Sangley around to the school arriving late for class, and very wet.

Here is my recent photo taken as a promo for an exhibit I had in San Francisco City Hall titled Vietnam - an Introspection. Images I took while serving as a Naval Aviator during the Vietnam conflict.

I am divorced with three grown children all living in the San Francisco Bay Area. My natural daughter is a fashion designer working for Banana Republic in corporate offices as a color specialist.

Most memorable moment: when one of my Sangley classmates placed a homemade bomb in the lockers in the gym. It detonated during morning assembly while we sung "To the Tables down at Mory's" in honor of the headmaster who was a Yale graduate.

The culprit was expelled that day. His brother taught me almost everything I know about photography then as we spent countless hours in the Hobby Shop darkroom and out in the barrios taking photos of anything that moved, and some that didn't. His name is Tom Bigelow and he lives in Islamorada, FL. I also swam on the Frosh swimming team.
