November / December 2000 |
| Alums were so busy preparing or traveling for Thanksgiving that the
November chat the Saturday before T-day was a very intimate one between Andy and Rick
Velayo. But alums were quite festive for the Christmas chat in December! Over 19 alums from 9 states and the PI chatted up a storm for almost 4 hours. Even during the last half-hour, there were still 7 alums carrying on! And at least 3 alums - Lawrence LI (75), Cess Abad (72) and Kathy Liese (72) - tried to join in but could not for various reasons. Sayang...next time! One interesting topic of chismis was what alums' children are doing - many have pierced various body parts and there are a few Wiccans too... An online "contest" developed around naming, from oldest to youngest, all the siblings in some of the larger alum families. Families included the Larsons, McFaddens, Zautners (there's 7 of them), Velayos, and Sycips. Chatting were: |

| Eleven alums from 3 continents and four countries gave a big
"Mabuhay" to new Chismis host Andy Butler on his inaugural chat. Newcomers
Anita Posey and Elizabeth Ng heroically represented, respectively, the decades of the
'50's and '80's while the '60's classes lived up to their reputation as "the lost
decade" when it come to these chats. Rick Petrykayn decided to see what all the
hoopla was about and joined the many other 70's alums for the usual wild and crazy time.
Phil Adamson checked in from Manila before a round of golf and brought us up to date on Estrada's woes and the resulting drop in the peso to 47-1. Phil will be coming to California in December and hopes to play golf with Rick Velayo. Lisa Miles will be making the trek from Sydney to NYC and Boston on a business trip in November and may look up alums in these cities. Chatting were: |

| Twelve persistent alums from three decades overcame "connection
refused" problems to chat for over 3 1/2 hours. Woody Rea and Shawn Palmer
(both 75) enjoyed a mini-reunion, Elizabeth Anderson (86) joined in her first chat and
AISAAM President Cho MacArthur gamely represented the decade of the '60's. Lisa
Miles reported she'll be attending only the closing ceremonies at the Olympics as she's
very busy with work. Andy Butler surprised a few chatters when answering a question
about his time in the PI since his family came over shortly after it became a US

| This month's 3 1/2 hours "standing room only" chat with 14
alums featured a variety of reunions. Sharon McClatchy surprised the host after 30
years and likewise delighted the many others who knew her, including former Manila
neighbor Rick Velayo. Sharon enjoyed a reunion with fellow cheerleaders Shawn Palmer
and Joelle Williams and the many Forbes Park alums. Freddy Gleeck gave us another "small world" story: he's consulting for an alum whose business has offices in the UK and US. Connie Donatelli provided a great service to the '60's classes by representing the entire decade. Karl Meyer and Phil Adamson provided international flavor. | The first chat of the summer lasted four hours and became an impromptu
pow wow of the classes from the 70's; except for the Class of 75, there was an alum from
each of the 70's classes. Some lost" alums were found, including a classmate of
the host whose whereabouts were unknown for over 30 years. International flavor was
added by alums from Canada, Australia and even a Manila alum, who filled us in on the

| After a hilarious first hour of banter between Rick and Lisa reminiscent
of the restaurant scene in "When Harry Met Sally", Beth Mulcahy and Rob White
enjoyed an online reunion. Rob mentioned a party he held attended by classmate Tracy
