Fall 2006

Three alums chatted for three hours on December 2.

Barney Carville will celebrate his first Christmas in his new home in Mississippi.  After living in Las Vegas for over 25 years, Barney and his wife, who both work for Harrah's, recently transferred to the Harrah's office in Memphis, just over the state line. (Harrah's owns a number of casinos in Tunica, Mississippi near Memphis.) Barney had a chance to meet up in Memphis with classmates Earl Cocke and Jeff Phillips.  Earl lives in Memphis and Jeff was visiting on business.

After spending 3 weeks in Spain recently and Thanksgiving week in Las Vegas, Steve Fellerman will stay home and rest for Christmas before heading to St. Augustine for New Year's weekend. Barney gave Steve some pointers to consider about Steve's thinking on moving to Nevada when he joins his wife in retirement in four years. Susie liked Baguio in 1995 as a retirement option but Andy says that with a population over one million now Baguio is too congested and polluted. (So just where do people who lived in Florida for almost 40 years retire to?)

Andy Butler leaves Saturday for a month in the Philippines, which appears to have become an annual trip now.  Hopefully, there'll be no more typhoons and the 18-hour flight to Manila with an hour stop in Nagoya will be the only hardship. (That's a "fast" flight; Steve only made it from Chicago to Seoul in 18 hours nonstop when he last visited the PI in 1995.) Andy gave Steve a YouTube link where he'll post any PI videos during the trip. The link will be posted to our bulletin board soon.

Spring - Summer 2006

Four alums and retired faculty member (and Soccer Coach) Rhante Parennas chatted for four hours on July 29.

Bob Wheatley recently stumbled upon the AISAAM site while researching / purchasing a Sangley belt buckle and is now another "found" alum!  Bob was at AS for two years ('66 and '67) before moving to Hong Kong.  He's now in Baton Rouge (LA), where he owns a business supplying  specialized cameras to chemical companies, and is looking forward to attending his first reunion.

Coach Parennas is heading to the PI for a month in early August for "summer vacation."  He'll be updating his blog from the PI so alums can follow his travels.  (Link to the blog is on the "links" page.) He now lives in Las Vegas, a favorite site for reunions of the 70's classes so perhaps he'll soon be sharing some San Miguel with alums!

Gaynor Bishop is headed to the Wisconsin shore for summer vacation.  Steve Fellerman is headed to Spain for a month beginning mid-September.  Andy Butler may visit the PI during Christmas, as he has done for at least the last two years.

Liz Ng has moved from New York to New Jersey and is thinking about going to language school.

Rhante Parrenas Fac Las Vegas, Nevada

Winter 2006

Ten alums chatted for about three hours.

Most of the alums chatting were suffering very un-Manila like cold winter weather and envious of a Florida alum's very mild temperatures.  Ray Elderd, who used to live in Palm Beach, may be moving back to Florida.

Andy Butler is looking forward to warmer weather during his annual "Spring Break" in the Florida Keys around Easter week.  He's also planning another trip to the Philippines during Christmas.  So it was fortunate that Dae Yeon, who owns a travel agency in Manila, happened to be chatting.

Joelle Williams is looking forward to the Bahamas reunion cruise in May and then headed to Greece in June for some sailing.  Steve Fellerman will be wandering Spain for a month in September and October.

In the "small world" category, Joelle's husband's cousin is the ISM middle school principal and the in-laws will be visiting Manila to see her.

Dave McConeghey noted that he's missed many chats due to computer problems.  Kristie Ackerman, who arrived after Dave left the chat, mentioned that his father and her mother both worked at the Embassy when they were in Manila.

It was Naushad Haque's first chat and he missed many of the other alums due to arriving late in the evening.  He vowed to arrive earlier next time!

Chatting were:

Steve Fellerman 70 Tallahassee, Florida
Kristine Carceller 82 Manila
Ray Elderd 84 Minneapolis, Minnesota
Rick Velayo 7766 Redwood City, california
Dae Yeon 81 Manila (but chatting from New Jersey while on U.S. visit))
